22 years in IT at the NEC taught me one thing. A new system is only as good as the person who sets it up and looks after it.
I started in IT support at the NEC in Birmingham in 1986 and spent 22 years there, in IT support and IT service delivery, as IT Support Manager. I put in catering systems and till and payment systems, then showed the chefs how to use them. Tough customers, believe me.
After that came IT project management roles, a website and booking system for a shooting ground, and an Etsy shop I built from scratch. Since 2023 I've been using AI every day.
